Maxtech Introduces Next Generation of Network Switches
Cerritos, CA (April 27, 1999) -- To meet the rising demand of small office and home office
(SOHO) computer networks, Maxtech Corporation is pleased to introduce two new dual-speed switches to help build
a more cost-effective network.
Many network administrators have previously had to choose a lower-priced hub over the speed of a switch. Because
Maxtech switches represent a new generation of technology, you can now furnish fast, reliable switches for about
the price of a hub. Networks that have been sharing bandwidth with hubs can now be upgraded to switches with dedicated
bandwidth for each client.
More affordable than ever, Maxtech's auto-sensing 10/100-Mbps switches can speed up a growing workgroup or small
network. If you've crowded your Ethernet network with legions of users, hearty applications, and lots of new servers
but haven't made infrastructure changes, then you've probably noticed a slowdown in performance. One way to get
your network humming again is to add a Maxtech 10/100-Mbps switch that can handle not only your 10-Mbps legacy
Ethernet links but fatter 100-Mbps Fast Ethernet connections as well.
The Maxtech SUD-8 and the SUD-16UR dual-speed 10/100Mb Ethernet switches are today's most cost-effective solution
for expanding existing 10Base-T or 100Base-TX networks. Each port creates an independent Ethernet segment of a
full 10Mb up to 200Mb (full-duplex) bandwidth, utilizing industry-standard NWay auto-sensing to provide the maximum
throughput that the connected device is capable of. The SUD-8 provides eight RJ-45 ports. The SUD-16UR is a 16-port
switch for rack mounting. Both unmanaged switches meet IEEE 802.3 and 802.3u standards. They both provide extensive
front-panel LED's for management at a glance.
Ethernet switches were once high-ticket items within reach only of large corporations. A Maxtech 10/100-Mbps auto-sensing
switch now costs about what you were paying for a hub. The suggested retail prices are $299 for the SUD-8 and $699
for the SUD-16UR. The switches will be available through Ingram Micro, D & H and Tech Data.
