The procedure for disabling the onboard video and installing a PCI video adapter card for the MX3000
1. With Windows booted, right click the "My Computer" icon, highlight and click "Properties" on the menu.
2. Select the "Device Manager" tab.
3. In the devices window, double click "Display Adapters", this expands the category and you should then be able to see the SIS620 Display Adapter under the category.
4. Highlight the SIS620 Adapter, press the "Remove" button below, when the verification windows pops up click on "OK"
5. The device and category should disappear from the devices window.
6. Close all windows and "Restart" Windows.
7. As the computer reboots, while drives are being detected, you will notice a message at the bottom of the screen "Press (DEL) to enter setup." When the message appears press the DEL key to enter setup. DO NOT LET THE COMPUTER BOOT INTO WINDOWS, IT WILL ATTEMPT TO REINSTALL THE VIDEO ADAPTER THAT YOU JUST REMOVED.
8. Once in setup you will see a dual panel menu. On the right half locate and highlight "Integrated Peripherals" and press enter.
9. Once in Integrated Peripherals you will have the dual panel again with features and their parameters. On the right panel find and highlight the AGP parameter beside "INIT Display First", press the "Page Up" or "Page Down" key to change "AGP" to "PCI Slot". Now highlight the 4MB parameter beside "VGA Shared Memory Size", press the "Page Up" or "Page Down" key to change the parameter to "None".
10. Now press the "ESC" key to return to the main menu. On the right panel locate and highlight "Save and Exit Setup", press the enter key, answer "Y" (yes) to the verification prompt and press enter. The computer will attempt to reboot. DONT LET IT. When you see it begin to detect drives again, POWER THE COMPUTER OFF.
11. Unplug the computer from the power outlet. Remove the three screws from the back of the computer that hold the case cover on, there is one at the top and one on each lower side. With the case cover removed, lay the computer on it's side so that you can look down on the motherboard. Follow the flat cable from the back of the FLOPPY drive to where it attaches to the motherboard. When done you will have properly located and identified the "IDE Floppy Port" on your motherboard. With the case on it's side, the computer face to your right, and the computer back on your left, notice the four pins just to the left of the "IDE Floppy Port". You will need a jumper to "jump" the upper two pins in that row of four pins. When finished the upper two pins will be jumpered and the lower two pins will remain visible and unjumpered. Now is the appropriate time to physically install your new video adapter, assuming it is a PCI video adapter, simply decide which open PCI slot you want to install the card into, remove the blank filler, if any, from the back of the case, slide the card into it's slot on the motherboard, and place a screw in the retainer hole at the inside back of the case. Now stand the case back up and replace the case cover and three screws, reattach cabling. Now this is important still, reboot the computer and enter "Setup" again as before (by pressing DEL). Immediately highlight "Save and Exit Setup", press enter, answer "Y" to the verification prompt and press enter. This saves the change you jumpered on the motherboard.
12. Reboot the computer into Windows, the new video adapter should be detected, provide the driver when prompted and you should be up and running.
